Hello there my lovelies!
How are we all today? I hope you're enjoying the lovely British summer....scorching heat to torrential rain! You just can't beat it right?!
So today I'm here to chat about Apps! Yes, it's another behind the scenes of what it is to run an online store.
What Are Website Apps?
First up, I run my website on Shopify, I've used various providers over the years, and this is by far the best. It works very simply. You have a basic monthly fee for the website, and you can add 'Apps' to perform certain functions, e.g. loyalty programmes, galleries, subscriptions etc.
Each of these apps have different pricing plans, often with a free plan, and then prices increasing depending on how much you need from the service.
That's all pretty simple right?
Every new feature to the website is an add-on, which increases the monthly running cost. So as long as the app adds value to the customer and website, it's worth the cost :)
How Does The Miss Lucy's App Work?
Like all the other functions on the website, this is an add-on app. I launched it a few months back on trial to see how popular it was and if it would be worth the cost. Of all the add-ons, it's the most expensive.
Because it's an independent app, it doesn't have integration ability with a lot of the other apps I use, apps that offer personalisation's, subscriptions, special offers, loyalty etc.
So when you use the app, money spent won't count towards loyalty points, you can't subscribe, bulk special offers don't apply etc.
I've tried to offer app exclusive deals to make up for this, but feel that the benefits are not outweighing the drawbacks at the moment.
Will The Miss Lucy's App Stay?
You may have seen that I recently shared a questionnaire to gain feedback on the app from all my lovely users.
One of the biggest issues for me is that lack of integration with the website, and the majority of responses confirmed that my customers feel the same.
This has led me to take the decision to pause the app for the time being.
All new functions on the website are always added on a trial basis, as a small business I need to make sure they add to the customer experience and 'earn their keep'. Unfortunately, at this time, the Miss Lucy's App isn't doing this, so I'd rather see the funds used for this to be used on something of more value to my customers.
Treats Available To All
With this in mind I'll be aiming to have more timed launches, with at least 24hr notice of any new launches being shared through email and socials. This way if there's a new product you're super excited about, you won't need to worry about missing out.
I'll continue to make sure the website is easy to navigate and find exactly what you're after, if you have any suggestions for the website layout could be improved, please let me know.
Coming soon will be customisable gift sets, and the bulk buy discounts will also be back!
I hope you all understand why this decision has been made, and will enjoy the new benefits that just the website will bring.
As always, if you have any feedback, questions or comments, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
